How tenants and landlords can complain if they are not happy with the service that they receive from letting and management agents.

Letting agents and property managers must belong to one of three government-approved redress schemes following the introduction of an order in 2014.

The order gives tenants and landlords the chance to complain to an independent person if they are unhappy with the service that they receive from letting and management agents.

Councils are responsible for making sure that letting and management agents are members of one of the approved schemes, if they are not they can be fined up to £5,000.
