Electrical safety standards for private rented housing.
The government has introduced the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector Regulations 2020, in an effort to make landlords more accountable.
The regulations provide the tools to deal with electrical safety hazards and state that properties must be regularly inspected to determine any electrical failures and that any defects remedied in a timely fashion.
We have produced an Electrical Safety Standards policy (2020) which sets out our process to enforce these regulations.
