With the chilly autumn nights now here, residents in Aldershot and Farnborough are being encouraged to check if they may be eligible for help with energy costs.

Rushmoor Borough Council, in partnership with 23 other local councils in the south east, has recently secured Home Upgrade Grant Phase 2 (HUG2) funding from the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) to help some households save money on their bills.

The Warmer Homes programme offers a variety of fully funded energy efficiency measures and is aimed at people with homes not heated by mains gas. It is only open to owner occupiers and private rental tenants.

Resident should call 0800 0385 737 or head over to www. warmerhomes.org.uk to find out more information and to apply.

Rushmoor Borough Council’s deputy leader and Cabinet member for operational services, Councillor Maurice Sheehan, said: “There are many ways this scheme can help eligible residents cut their energy bills, including cavity wall insulation, solar panels and loft insulation.

“I would urge residents to check their eligibility soon, as this will be popular, and funding will only be allocated on a first-come first served basis.”
