How to purchase council land

Let us know if you would like to purchase some council owned land 

If you are looking to purchase a plot of council land for extending your garden, a new building, use as a car park, community use or more, please fill in our form below.

This helps us make sure your enquiry goes to the right people and departments at the council. 

What happens next

We will look over the information you provide in the form and let you know if we are happy that we can sell you the land. 

You will then need to pay for our external surveyor to assess the land and decide on the price. The survey depending on the size of the land, will cost a minimum of £500. 

Buying the land 

Once we have received the surveyor's report, we will share this with you. You can then decide if you would like to continue with the purchase.

We will then let you know how much our fees are for the sale of the land. Half of our fees will need to be paid before any work from us starts with the formal sale of the land. 

We will advertise the proposed purchase in the local press and our website.

The other half of our fees and the full purchase price will need to be paid on the sale completion. 

All the land would have a covenant applied to it, as part of the sale.
