Farnborough Street Conservation Area is an area designated as having special architectural or historic interest, the character of which it is desirable to preserve and enhance.
The Farnborough Street Conservation Area was designated in 2025.
Parts of the conservation area were formerly part of a larger Farnborough Hill Conservation Area which was first designated in 1977 and reviewed in 1989. In 2025, following public consultation, we split the old Farnborough Hill Conservation Area into two parts, designating the Farnborough Street Conservation Area and a new Farnborough Hill Conservation Area in its place.
We also adopted a Character Appraisal and Management Plan that sets out the special architectural and historic interest of the Farnborough Street Conservation Area and which justifies its designation as a heritage asset. The document is a material consideration in planning decisions within the conservation area.
The document should be read alongside the Conservation Areas Overview Document which sets out the context in which conservation areas in Rushmoor have been designated.
We have also produced a Consultation Statement for the Farnborough Street Conservation Area.
