More than 30 food businesses inspected by Rushmoor Borough Council’s environmental health officers are celebrating after receiving the highest ‘5 – very good’ food ratings.
The council inspects every food business in Aldershot and Farnborough according to a national risk rating scheme, which sets how often each business is inspected.
Each inspection results in a food hygiene rating from ‘zero – urgent improvement necessary’ to ‘5 – very good, which the business can choose to display.
Currently, 89% of food businesses in Rushmoor are rated as a ‘5 – very good’ or ‘4 – good’.
Among the 33, which received the highest rating during inspections of 75 businesses in January and February, was Momo Station in Victoria Road, Aldershot.
Its managing director, Amit Gurung, said: “We are very pleased to get our 5 rating following our latest inspection. It’s good for us – it gives us confidence that we are keeping good standards of hygiene, and it’s great for our customers too.”
Councillor Christine Guinness, Rushmoor Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Pride in Place/Neighbourhood Services said: “We are proud to celebrate the high standards of hygiene in the borough’s businesses. The national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme drives up standards for residents, allowing us all to see what our environmental health officers see when they inspect behind the scenes. I would encourage everyone to check the ratings of food businesses to help inform their purchasing decisions and support our local business community.”
Residents can check the rating of any food business on the Food Standards Agency’s (FSA) website.
