Find out how to dispose of asbestos safely.

Many people worry about asbestos, but asbestos in good condition is not usually a problem. But take care that you don't damage the asbestos, and release fibres, as this could seriously damage your health.

Where to dispose of asbestos in Hampshire

If you have a small quantity of cement bonded asbestos sheets (CBA) - no more than 15 sheets of approximate size 120cm x 60cm - in Hampshire, you can take it to one of the five Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC), listed below.

Hampshire County Council charges for this service please contact them on 0300 555 1389 for more information.

The HWRCs are specially licensed to receive this type of hazardous waste. But they don't accept other types of asbestos.

CBA must be wrapped in plastic sheeting (or small pieces double-bagged) and sealed with tape to avoid the release of asbestos fibres.

Please call the centre in advance to check they have the space to store the asbestos. If you don't, you could be turned away.
