We've been made aware that a number of local food businesses have been contacted by people claiming to be from ‘Rushmoor’ and that they need to make an appointment to come and do a food hygiene visit.
These calls have not come from the council.
To help identify if a call is genuine, we would advise that:
- Calls from the council would come from a telephone number starting 01252 398 XXX
- Any emails we send would come from an email address ending @rushmoor.gov.uk
- All officers carry ID and will be happy to produce this upon request
If you have any doubt about the authenticity of an officer contacting or visiting you, please contact us on 01252 398 399 to check if it's genuine.
If you believe you may have been subject to a potential scam call, you can report it to the police on 101. If you're a member of the Rushmoor Business Crime Partnership DISC system (formerly Aldershot Shop watch and Farnborough Shop watch schemes), you can also report it that way. This goes through to our community safety and town centre teams, who can then alert the police.
