Aldershot Lido, is set to reopen this month for the summer season.
Everyone Active, acting as agent on the council's behalf, has taken over the management of the lido ahead of the new season.
Following its winter closure, Aldershot Lido will reopen to visitors on Saturday 23 May, with a community event taking place on the day to mark the occasion and welcome visitors back for the summer.
Aldershot Lido will then be open for the season during the May half term week (23–31 May), followed by weekend openings throughout June (6–7, 13–14, 20–21 and 27–28 June), and daily opening in July and August (1 July – 31 August), with all sessions running from 10am to 6pm and last entry at 5pm.
The much-loved Doggy Splash sessions will also return this September, giving local dogs the chance to enjoy the outdoor pool before it closes for the season.
While visitors are welcome to turn up on the day, customers are advised to download the Everyone Active app or visit the Aldershot Lido page on the Everyone Active website.
Customers can take advantage of the lido’s food and beverage offering, with a fully functioning kitchen serving a selection of hot and cold food and drinks, alongside public WiFi, following investment from new operator, Everyone Active.
Aldershot Lido’s main attraction is its outdoor pool, which caters for both leisure and lane swimming and offers a range of features for visitors of all ages. The pool includes three flumes and a diving board, providing a fun and active experience for families.
A small paddling pool is also available for younger children, offering an ideal introduction to swimming and water-based activities, particularly during weekends and school holidays.
In addition to its pool facilities, the lido features a sandpit area, creating a beach-style space for families, as well as outdoor basketball hoops for recreational use.
Sam Macleod, Customer Service Manager at the Lido, said: “Aldershot Lido has long been a much-loved destination in the south, often described as feeling ‘just like being at the seaside’. It’s a place where families and friends can come together to relax, have fun and make lasting memories over the summer months.
“With its outdoor pool, slides, diving board and sandy play area, alongside a range of food and drink options on site, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
“We’re really looking forward to welcoming back returning visitors, as well as seeing lots of new faces, for what promises to be a fantastic summer season.”
Karl Miles, Everyone Active Area Contract Manager, added: “We’re pleased to be welcoming visitors back to Aldershot Lido for the summer season. It’s a fantastic facility with something for everyone, and we’re looking forward to seeing the community make the most of it once again.”
Tim Astley, Commercial Manager – Theatre and Leisure at Rushmoor Borough Council added: “We’re excited to start the summer season and it’s looking like the weather could be dry and warm just in time for the bank holiday weekend and May half-term holiday. The lido offers a fantastic value day out, with special deals for families and the best prices available when booking in advance.”
