Planning applications system unavailable Friday morning from 4am to 9am

We are carrying out essential maintenance work on Friday 15 May.

How we are working with the community and our partners to strengthen cohesion and integration.

Through our Rushmoor Together plan, collaboration with the Belong Network, and the task and finish community engagement group, our goal is to bring people together and make a real difference in our communities.

Misinformation and Disinformation – Skills Workshop

We are hosting free, in‑person skill‑sharing workshops facilitated by the Belong Network, focusing on misinformation, disinformation, and conspiracy theories.

These interactive workshops are aimed at the voluntary and community sector, schools, local government, and partner organisations. To help you respond effectively to misinformation, disinformation and conspiracy theories.

There are two sessions to choose from, both in the Wellington Room, Council offices in Farnborough:

  • Wednesday 20 May - 1pm to 4pm
  • Thursday 21 May - 10am to 1pm

The session is open to partners, councillors, and officers, so it'll be a great opportunity to meet and discuss concerns with a variety of people.

What we have been doing

Taking our plans and working with the above groups and partners, and the wider community, we have been carrying out a lot of activities to help improve cohesion in Aldershot and Farnborough.

Some of these activities have included:

  • St George’s Day celebrations
  • Beacon lighting events
  • A Taste of Rushmoor cookbook
  • A Winter's Gift
  • Suffolk Puff community arts project

Please see our cohesion projects page for more information about the activities.

A lot of the money that has gone into the community activities has come from the government’s Community Recovery Grant. Please see our Cabinet report from 25 July 2025 for more information.

Future activities and projects

Over the coming months we will be doing much more and here’s a list of some of what’s planned:

  • Community engagement events with groups of local residents on a wide range of issues to do with community life
  • Business network events, and with other groups, around active local issues
  • A young people's film project. Where young people can voice their views, feelings and hopes for our communities and the future
  • Development training sessions for the council and partner organisations. Based around the Belong Network’s national guidance on capacity building and skills for cohesion

How to get involved

We are encouraging any residents or groups interested in contributing to positive change in our community to get involved. If you would like to join the Rushmoor Voices group, please contact us using the details below.
