Local families and budding winter sports enthusiasts are invited to try skiing, snowboarding and donutting at Alpine Snowsports Community Snowsports Discovery Weekend.
Taking place on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, from 9.30am to 5.30pm, the two-day event will give beginners the chance to try snowsports in a fun and accessible environment, with activities available for both juniors and adults.
Managed by Everyone Active on behalf of Rushmoor Borough Council, Alpine Snowsports is hosting the event to give people the opportunity to experience snowsports ahead of the winter season.
The weekend will also feature a special guest appearance from Team GB alpine skier and two-time Winter Olympian Charlie Guest, who will be getting involved in the activities and joining visitors on the slopes at Alpine Snowsports.
Now a broadcaster, Charlie was part of TNT Sports’ coverage of the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, providing expert analysis and co-commentary across the alpine skiing programme. Her involvement will give visitors the chance to meet an Olympic athlete, see her in action and hear first-hand about her experience of competing at the highest level of alpine skiing.
On Saturday 26 September, visitors can try skiing and donutting. One-hour skiing taster sessions will be available for children aged four to seven, juniors aged eight to 16 and adults, with donutting sessions running throughout the day.
On Sunday 27 September, visitors can try one-hour snowboarding taster sessions, with separate sessions for juniors and adults, alongside donutting sessions.
All activities cost £5 per person, per activity, giving people the opportunity to experience snowsports for the first time, try something new and find out more about progressing into regular lessons.
Clive Marshall, Everyone Active General Manager at Alpine Snowsports Aldershot, said: “The Community Snowsports Discovery Day is a great opportunity for people of all ages to come along and try snowsports in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
“Whether you’ve never skied or snowboarded before, or you’re looking to try something new, there will be sessions available for beginners across the weekend. We’re also delighted that two-time Winter Olympian Charlie Guest will be joining us and getting involved in the activities.
“We’re particularly pleased to be able to offer the taster sessions at £5, making it an affordable way for families and individuals to experience snowsports and hopefully encourage more people to take up the sport.”
No previous experience is required to take part. Children aged four and above can participate, although an accompanying adult must remain on site.
