Today (Friday 16 October) we have proudly raised the Black History Month flag outside the council offices in Farnborough.

Black History Month recognises and celebrates the significant contributions that Black communities have made to our society, both locally and nationally and is observed in October every year.
Councillor Gareth Williams, Leader of Rushmoor Borough Council said: “Flying the Black History Month flag is a visible reminder of our commitment to celebrating diversity and promoting equality across our borough.”

Councillor Williams added: “We are proud to mark Black History Month in Rushmoor, and I would encourage everyone to take the opportunity to learn more, share and celebrate the rich history and culture of everyone in our communities.”

Councillor Mara Makunura added: “Black History Month is an opportunity to learn from the past, celebrate achievements, and continue building a more inclusive community where everyone feels valued and respected.”
