SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has been selected as the official charity partner for this year’s Armed Forces Day National Event 2026 by Rushmoor Borough Council.

As the official charity partner, SSAFA will play a central role, raising awareness of the practical, emotional, and financial assistance it provides to members of the Armed Forces family. Visitors to the National Armed Forces Day Event on 27 and 28 June will have the opportunity to meet SSAFA representatives, learn more about the charity’s work, and support its mission.

Steve Shell, CEO at SSAFA, says: “We are honoured to be chosen as Rushmoor’s official charity partner for the National Armed Forces Day Event 2026. Aldershot has a proud military heritage; this partnership reflects the strong bond between the local community and the Armed Forces. We look forward to marking occasion alongside residents, service personnel, and veterans while continuing our work to provide lifelong support to those who serve and their families.”

Free tickets are now available for Rushmoor’s Armed Forces Day, hosted in Aldershot and Farnborough.

Deputy Leader of Rushmoor Borough Council, Councillor Sophie Porter adds: “SSAFA’s longstanding dedication to the Armed Forces community makes it the ideal charity partner for this important event. Together, we aim to honour those who serve and have served and ensure our celebrations have a lasting positive impact.”

SSAFA has been supporting the Armed Forces community for more than 140 years, offering tailored assistance to individuals and families facing challenges at any stage of military life.

Rushmoor has a long history of supporting the Armed Forces and their families, who live and work in the borough’s towns. In 2012, it agreed and signed its own Armed Forces covenant with the Aldershot Garrison. The covenant was reaffirmed in 2019. Rushmoor also has a Defence Employer Recognition Scheme silver award that recognises the council as a Forces-friendly employer that supports the defence sector and the Armed Forces community.
