Farnborough International Airshow traffic information

Local traffic information for the Farnborough Airshow, 9 to 22 July.

The Farnborough Airshow runs from Monday 16 July to Sunday 22 July. During the show, a number of one-way systems, road closures and other restrictions will be in place.

Road closures - A323 Fleet Road and Aldershot Road

The following roads will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians from Monday 9 July to Sunday 22 July between midday and 5pm: (This includes practice week - Monday 9 July to Sunday 15 July)

  • A323 Fleet Road - from its junction with Norris Hill Road and its junction with Laffans Road
  • Aldershot Road - from its junction with A323 Fleet Road to the eastern boundary of The Foresters public house

A diversion route will direct traffic to use Bourley Road.

Reason for the additional road closures

These roads are being closed is because of increased safety measures introduced by the Civil Aviation Authority following the Shoreham Airshow accident.

As a result of these measures, the Farnborough Airshow organisers asked Hampshire County Council to close selected roads while the aerobatics displays are taking place. They also asked the Ministry of Defence to close a section of land to the south west of the airfield.

Lynchford Road and Park Road one-way systems 15 July to 22 July

From midday on Sunday 15 July to 10pm on Sunday 22 July, the Park Road one-way system (from its junction with Reading Road to its junction with Lynchford Road), will be reversed.

Lynchford Road one-way system 16 July to 22 July (6am - 2pm)

A one-way system will run along the A3011 Lynchford Road towards the airfield. Traffic heading away from the airshow will be diverted along Old Lynchford Road, Winchester Street, Netley Street, Alexandra Road, Reading Road and Park Road. It is expected that the diversion will be removed by midday daily. However, this will depend on the amount of traffic entering the show.

During the diversion, the western end of Old Lynchford Road (from the junction with Lynchford Road to its junction with Winchester Street) will be made one-way to ease the traffic flow.

Parking restrictions

As there is likely to be extra parking in residential streets around the airfield, extra parking restrictions will be in place to reduce congestion on the major routes and in some of the residential roads near the show.

Residents' parking scheme, North CampResidents' parking scheme, North Camp Displays a larger version of this image in a new browser window

A section of North Camp will have a temporary residents' parking scheme in place during the show. If your home is covered by the scheme, you will have received a letter. We would ask you to display your residents' parking permit clearly on your vehicle windscreen to avoid receiving a parking fine.

Anyone who parks in the roads highlighted without a residents' parking permit is likely to get a parking fine.

Access to properties

Unfortunately, it is not possible to reserve parking spaces on the road for all residents. However, we do have the power to deal with any vehicle obstructing vehicle access into properties. If this happens, please call our customer services team using the contact details on this page.

Other restrictions

As well as the restrictions above, other restrictions may apply during the Airshow week. You will find details of these restrictions on our Traffic regulation orders page. You can also view a paper copy at our council offices.

Public transport information

For public transport information, please visit the Farnborough International Airshow website.

Taxis

Taxis that are not registered in Rushmoor are not allowed to ply for trade in the borough. Our licensing team will be monitoring the situation, but if you need more information about the taxi trade during the Airshow, please call us using the contact details on this page.

Roadworks

All roadworks on key routes into Rushmoor are suspended until after the Airshow.

Alternative route for local traffic

We would encourage traffic travelling both north and south in Farnborough to use Alexandra Road (B3403).

Traffic between the A31 at Runfold, near Farnham and junction four of the M3 will be encouraged to use the A331 (Blackwater Valley Relief Road - BVR).

The AA, in conjunction with CSP Traffic Management, is responsible for traffic management throughout this year's Airshow.

As with previous Airshows, we appreciate that additional traffic will cause inconvenience to local residents. We thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.
