Rushmoor Borough Council and the area’s biggest housing association, VIVID, have agreed to work closer together to strengthen their partnership.
Senior officials from both organisations met recently, with the council represented, among others, by Interim Managing Director, Ian Harrison, the Leader of the Council, Councillor Gareth Williams and Cabinet member for Housing and Planning, Councillor Keith Dibble.
Among the topics for discussion were the North Town redevelopment, Awaab’s Law and the approach taken to resolve mould and damp issues, the success of shared ownership, the Wellesley development in Aldershot, Farnborough Civic Quarter, a strategy for adopting roads on new developments, a potential downsizing scheme and performance monitoring.
Senior staff from Rushmoor Borough Council and VIVID will now be meeting on a quarterly basis and working together on the launch of the housing association’s new customer promises next year and Warm Homes project. The council will also help to promote VIVID’s customer satisfaction surveys as feedback from tenants is vital to helping understand what’s working and where it can improve.
Councillor Dibble explained: “It was a really constructive meeting, and we will now be meeting at a senior level on a regular basis to improve dialogue between the two organisations. VIVID are a big social housing provider in the borough, and an important partner, so it’s important we have a strong partnership going forward.
“We’re committed to working closely together with social housing providers supporting them to achieve high quality homes and services. Regular conversations and strong partnerships like this are an important step to continue towards our shared goals.”
Mark Perry, Chief Executive of VIVID, said: “Working closely with Rushmoor Borough Council is key to delivering the best outcomes for local people. By strengthening our partnership, we can tackle opportunities and challenges together, share ideas and make sure our customers benefit from safe, quality homes and great services. Collaboration like this helps us keep improving and ensures we’re focused on what matters most – the needs of local communities.”
