The operator of an Aldershot restaurant has been given a caution by Rushmoor Borough Council after he was caught carrying out a number of unlicensed activities, including the sale of alcohol.

The caution was given to Bijay Giri on November 21 for four offences relating to unlicensed activities, including the sale of alcohol, and the provision of entertainment and late-night refreshment.
It followed a visit by a team of police officers to the Malinggo restaurant in Station Road in the early hours of Monday 26 May.
When they visited the premises shortly after midnight, they found customers eating, drinking alcohol and dancing to live music – all of which were unlicensed. The shutters at the front of the premises were also partially down. Mr Giri immediately closed the restaurant at the request of the police.

The action followed a number of previous warnings for the restaurant.

Rushmoor Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Pride in Place and Neighbourhood Services, Councillor Christine Guinness, said: “We fully support our officers taking action against any premises that flout the law like this.
“This particular restaurant had already been warned, and if after this caution further unlicensed activities are found to be taking place, they will face more severe consequences, including potential prosecution which could lead to fines and even imprisonment.”
