The owners of Farnborough Airport have submitted new plans to change the way they operate to meet their aim of increased growth.
In a new planning application, Farnborough Airport Ltd is asking Rushmoor Borough Council for planning permission to increase the number of non-weekday (weekends and public holidays) aircraft movements from 8,900 to 13,500 per annum; amend the aircraft weight category of 50,000kg - 80,000kg to 55,000kg - 80,000 kg, including an increase from 270 to 405 annual aircraft movements for non-weekdays, and to amend the conditions related to airport public safety zones.
No changes are proposed to the public safety zones currently adopted by the airport. However, it is proposed to amend the conditions to correspond with the latest guidance, published by the Department for Transport in October 2021, and any future changes.
Anyone interested can now view the proposals (reference number 25/00615/REV) and comment on the relevant council web page.
This is a new planning application and differs from the application the council previously consulted on in November 2023, which sought to increase the total number of aircraft movements from 50,000 to 70,000 a year.
This means that the council will not be able to take into account any comments it received previously. Any comments should relate to the new plans.
Printed copies of the planning application documents are also available to view at the council offices in Farnborough, and at Aldershot and Farnborough libraries, during opening hours.
The council will also be seeking the views of statutory and non-statutory consultees, such as the Environment Agency, Natural England and neighbouring planning authorities.
The closing date for comments is Tuesday 30 December.
Rushmoor Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Housing and Planning, Councillor Keith Dibble, said: “These are very important proposals, not just for Farnborough and Aldershot residents and businesses, but for the population over a large area. I want to encourage everyone to look closely at the plans and give us their thoughts.”
The application is expected to come before the council’s Development Management Committee for a decision in March.
