Rushmoor Borough Council is challenging residents to ditch the sofa and discover fun new ways to get moving this summer with its new campaign – Active in Rushmoor - Moving to a Healthier You.
From pickleball and cheerleading to karate, gymnastics, dance, cycling and more – there’s something for everyone, whatever your age, fitness level or schedule. Whether you’re trying something on your own, something new with friends, or getting the whole family involved, the message is simple: now’s the time to move!
The best part? Most activities offer free trial sessions, giving residents in Aldershot and Farnborough the opportunity to try something fresh, fun, and good for their health.
Anyone who’d like to try some new activities first is encouraged to head to Moorfest on Sunday, 13 July (11am–3pm) at Moor Road Recreation Ground, Farnborough. This high-energy event features free ‘have a go’ sessions and demonstrations in boxing, yoga, karate, walking football, pickleball and more.

Rushmoor Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Healthy Communities and Active Lives, Councillor Sophie Porter, said: “This campaign is about making fitness fun and accessible. Active in Rushmoor showcases just how many opportunities are out there to boost physical and mental wellbeing – all while trying something new and meeting others in the community.
“It’s never been easier – or more important – to get active. So, I’d encourage everyone to get out there, get moving and find something they love!”
