It is with deep sadness that we have learnt about the passing of former councillor and Honorary Alderman Donald (Don) Cappleman on 7 January.
Don served as a councillor for Rushmoor Borough Council for 20 years having first been elected to Alexandra ward in Aldershot in 1995.
He was subsequently elected to represent Heron Wood between 2000-2011, and Aldershot Park from 2012-2015.
In the late 1990s, Don was Vice Chairman of the Council’s Planning and Transportation Committee. He served on a variety of committees, with a particular interest for planning, highways and licensing.
His loyal and distinguished service was recognised in December 2019 when he was made an Honorary Alderman of the Council.
