We have now received a letter from the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Steve Reed OBE MP, confirming that elections will go ahead as planned in Rushmoor.
The Leader of Rushmoor Borough Council, Councillor Gareth Williams, had previously stated that Rushmoor Borough Council did not believe there was a need to postpone elections taking place in May 2026.
This was in an official response to a letter from Government in December inviting views on potentially postponing elections in May because of the need to deliver local government reorganisation.
Local elections will take place on 7 May.
