Rushmoor Borough Council is celebrating food businesses in Aldershot and Farnborough that were rated a magnificent ’5’ at the time of their last food hygiene inspection.

The council inspected and rated 340 food businesses in 2025, with 66% (221) scoring a “5 - Very Good”, and 23% (77) scoring a “4 – Good”.

Every food business in Rushmoor is inspected and rated for food hygiene, with their ‘scores on the doors’ published for all to see on the Food Standards Agency website.

Bijay Karki, Manager of Bodrum Grill German Doner House, High Street, Aldershot said “Our ‘5’ rating is really important to us. A ‘Very Good’ rating gives confidence to our customers (and to us) that we are doing the right thing.”

Karen Nourse at The Tea Shop Around the Corner, 40 Camp Road, Farnborough, said: “We are very proud of our ‘5’. The sticker is displayed on our front door so everyone can see. Our customers know we serve great food – and it does reassure them that we deliver a high standard of food safety too.”

Councillor Christine Guinness, Rushmoor Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Pride in Place and Neighbourhood Services, said: “It’s always great news for a food business when they get their ‘5’ rating at the end of an inspection. It’s also good for the council’s environmental health team to be able to reward the hard work and good practices that go into achieving this standard. I’m proud to celebrate with the ‘5’ rated ‘class of 2025’ and with all those that maintain high standards for their customers and our residents.”

Councillor Guinness added: “Those with a top rating are more likely to display their green stickers to indicate their rating. However, food businesses in England are not required to display their rating. So, if the rating is not displayed ‘on the door’, it’s always best to look up their rating before you purchase their food, as some food businesses are rated at a lower standard - the ratings go from ‘5 - Very Good’ down to ‘0 - Urgent Improvement Necessary’.”

In total, there are around 730 food businesses in Rushmoor. Where businesses get a low rating, the council’s environmental health team will work closely with revisits and interventions to protect public health.
