Following the interim injunction issued this week in favour of Epping Forest Council against the owners of the Bell Hotel, Rushmoor Borough Council has received a number of requests that it take similar legal action with respect to Potters International Hotel.
As the Home Office are appealing the Epping Forest judgment, our legal advisors have told us that the courts would be very unlikely to grant any further injunctions based on the Epping outcome, while the appeal is pending.
We will carefully observe developments in this case while talking to our legal advisors.
The council will continue to work closely with the Home Office to meet their ambition to bring to an end the use of hotels as asylum accommodation as swiftly as possible and will ensure that local communities are supported throughout.
