Playfest! Aldershot’s action-packed day of hands-on play and games for all ages is back on Saturday 30 August.

The popular event organised by Rushmoor Borough Council will be bringing lots of activities and fun to Princes Gardens in Aldershot town centre from 10am to 4pm, and best of all - all the activities are free!

Families can go on a virtual reality safari, play with giant crazy contraptions, spray a street art mural, take part in wacky science experiments, create some sensational slime, visit the magical story corner and make forest-themed crafts.

Next, they can enjoy a silly science show, climb inside a giant adventure cave, create a fruity snack, learn some karate moves and engineer a K-NEX invention.

After all that, visitors can discover the beehives, make some music, and dance around the colourful maypole. Just for toddlers, there’s art, music and a messy play station.

Families can also take part in wonderful workshops at the community bandstand with dancing, drama, drumming and more.

Councillor Sophie Porter, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Healthy Communities and Active Lives at Rushmoor Borough Council said: “It’s been wonderful to see local families enjoying our free town centre events and activities throughout the summer and Playfest! marks the end of the school holidays. If you’ve never been to Playfest! before, you are in for a treat – with lots of hands-on activities for all ages.”

For a full list of activities and timings of all the workshops, go to the council’s website, www.rushmoor.gov.uk/playfest

All the activities are free, and children must be accompanied at all times. The event is organised and funded by the council, with support from UK Government funding and kindly sponsored by Group 1 Auto.
