We are holding a by-election for a councillor in Wellington ward on Thursday 16 July. Find out more.

This by-election has been called, following the resignation of one of our councillors.

Who can vote

Anybody who is registered to vote and lives in Wellington ward will be allowed to vote in this election.

You can check which ward you live in using our wards and polling stations look-up.

Register to vote

If you are eligible to vote and already registered we will send you a poll card from 16 June to 21 June. 

You can check if you are registered using our check you are registered to vote look-up.

If you are not registered the deadline for registering for the by-election is Tuesday 30 June. You can do this by visiting Register to vote on the GOV.UK website.

Voting by post or by proxy

If you are going to be away on polling day (16 July), you can apply for a postal vote or appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf. 

If you have a postal vote already and want to change to either vote in person at a polling station, or appoint a proxy, you must let us know by 5pm on 1 July (using the contact details below).
