Help from your gas or electricity supplier
If you are struggling to pay your energy bill, it's important you speak to your energy supplier as soon as possible as they may be able to help with a grant, payment plan, or give general advice.
Some energy companies have support funds and hardship grants available for customers who are struggling. If you're in debt to your energy supplier, you may be able to get a grant to help pay it off.

Government schemes
The government runs a number of schemes that you may qualify for. These include the winter fuel payment and warm home discount scheme.

Help with your council tax bill and rent
If you're on a low income, you may be able to get help with your council tax bill and rent. To find out more, see our claiming support and benefits section which has information on what benefits are available and how to claim them.
Help with your phone and broadband bills
If you are on a low income and claim certain benefits, you may be eligible for a social tariff from your home phone, broadband and/or mobile phone provider. These are also referred to as "essential" or "basic" tariffs and packages. Help for veterans
The Royal British Legion offers means-tested grants of up to £200 a month for a year for veterans and their families.
The cost of living grants can help towards everyday essentials like kitchen appliances, clothes, and energy costs.

Help with urgent one-off expenses - St Peter's and Acts 435
St Peter’s Church in Farnborough works in partnership with registered charity Acts 435, to help people who are in urgent financial need with one-off costs (for example broken appliances), up to £150.
