Explaining the types of events we will add or not add to our what's on calendar for Aldershot and Farnborough.

We welcome events from community groups, charities, partners and business organisations.

Events we do not accept

We want to give everyone an opportunity to increase awareness of their event(s) in our towns.

However, we reserve the right to exclude any event we consider inappropriate, offensive, would create community division or is not in keeping with our aim of creating stronger communities.

This includes events which promote:

  • Tobacco, alcohol or gambling
  • Pornography, including associated with ‘adult industries’
  • Events with an overtly sexual tone
  • Weapons, dangerous products or materials (this does not preclude general events from the defence industry)
  • Controlled drugs, legal highs and drug paraphernalia
  • Political or lobbying campaigns or politicians and political organisations
  • Anything that could lead to the prosecution of the council

We will let you know if we have not accepted your event to our calendar and how to appeal our decision, to our Executive Director.

Location

We usually only accept events that are in Rushmoor (the towns of Aldershot and Farnborough).

We may be able include events that are on the borders of Rushmoor, with a close local connection, but we don't include events that are in other nearby towns and villages.

Frequency of events

You can add single one-off events to our calendar. You can also add recurring events (for example regular weekly/monthly sessions). To accommodate all the events that we promote, we may need to summarise the information you give us.

To make sure our events calendar is kept as up to date as we can, a recurring event will only appear for a maximum of six months.

If your event is recurring and continuing past six months, then please fill in a new event form to extend your event listing, before your event expires.

Prioritisation

All listings are free, but we will prioritise our own events above others.

Licences, insurance and permissions

You will need to have permission from the landowner for your event. For all public events that we advertise, you should have public liability insurance.

You will need all relevant event licences (for example, temporary event notice) in place before we can advertise it. If you are unsure what licences you need or have not got them in place yet, please don’t fill in the add an event form.

Instead, please use our holding an event in Rushmoor form and we will help you through the process.

Copyright and data protection

You must make sure that your event meets all relevant UK laws.

When uploading your promotional material, you will need to have the copyright owner’s permission for using it.

Always get consent from individuals before including their photos, in any promotional content.

Editorial

Events are not automatically added onto our website. They are moderated and we may edit them to:

  • Fit into our calendar
  • Match our corporate style
  • Make it clear that the event is not being organised by ourselves

We aim to add your event to our what’s on calendar within five working days.

If we publish an event on our website, it should not be regarded as endorsement by the council of your event. We accept no responsibility for the quality or reliability of the information in the event listing.
