Extra information on what you need to do to apply for a shop front improvement grant.
The information below is a summary of our full guidance notes for our shop front improvement grants scheme.
How much you can apply for
- Grants of up to £2,000
- Funding is 50% match-funded – so if your project costs £1,000, the grant could cover £500
- At least seven grants will be awarded (more may be available if some projects cost less)
Who can apply
- Owners, leaseholders (with at least 3 years left), or tenants (with landlord’s permission)
- Businesses with a shop front facing the street
- You shop must be in Aldershot, Farnborough or North Camp
- Priority goes to independent businesses or small chains (less than 5 shops)
What the grant may cover
You can use the grant for:
- New or restored shop fronts
- Repairing original features (for example: woodwork or masonry)
- Repainting in suitable colours
- Signage and lighting (with permission)
- Making entrances more accessible
You can’t use the grant for:
- Work already started or finished
- Internal refurbishments
- Shutters, CCTV, or rear/side improvements
- VAT you can reclaim
Our priority areas
- Aldershot: Union Street, Wellington Street, Victoria Road
- Farnborough: Queensmead, Victoria Road, Meads/Princes Mead
- North Camp: Lynchford Road, Camp Road, Alexandra Road
Before you apply
Please make sure you have done the following before you apply for this grant:
- Get two quotes for all works
- Check if you need planning permission
- Shops must display UKSPF branding (materials will be provided)
Deadline for completing the works
All work must be finished and paid for by 31 March 2026.
