We’re delighted to be hosting the national Armed Forces Day next summer.
The prestigious national event will be held over the weekend of 27 and 28 June.
Along with the military, we will be organising a full programme of events for the celebrations.
Please see our Armed Forces Day press release for more information about the announcement.
What’s on
The full plans are in their early stages, but here’s a flavour of what to expect:
Saturday 27 June
A formal day featuring a historic military vehicle procession, a military march along Queens Avenue, displays and entertainment.
The focus of the day will be on recognising all those with interaction to the services - from cadets to veterans. There will also be a food area and a funfair.
Sunday 28 June
A more relaxed, community-focused day with sports, competitions, cultural activities, entertainment, stalls, food, and a funfair.
Other events
In the lead-up to the weekend, there will also be events and activities, including school and youth engagement programmes, local arts projects, and events involving town centre businesses.
We will update this web page with more information when we have it.
