Rivers and waterways - what we are responsible for

We are responsible for the more minor waterways and ditches that drain land in Rushmoor. These are known as 'ordinary watercourses'.

We regularly inspect these watercourses to make sure the water flows freely. In most cases, it is up to the owner of the banks to actually maintain the watercourse. We try to make sure ditches aren't filled in or 'culverted' without permission.

The Environment Agency is responsible for main rivers and South East Water is responsible for your water bill and water supply.
