The Food Standards Agency has a free food safety management pack called safer food, better business. It helps your your business put in place food safety management procedures and follow food hygiene regulations.
A practical approach to food safety management
The easy-to-use food safety management packs are split into two main parts. The first part covers the five main areas of food safety:
- Cooking
- Cleaning
- Chilling
- Cross-contamination
- Management
The second part includes a diary for your business to use everyday.
The safer food, better business packs
There are several different packs available from the Food Standards Agency's website:
- Small Catering Business
- Small Retail Business
- Childminders
- A supplement for residential care homes
- Chinese cuisine
- Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan cuisines
The Food Standards Agency has stopped printing and distributing the Safer Food Better Business packs because of the high cost, but you can download them and print off the relevant sections.
