Byelaws

Our byelaws provide rules about the use of public land in Aldershot and Farnborough. They also regulate activities, like hairdressing and tattooing.

About byelaws

Councils make byelaws to tackle local problems and to regulate activities not covered by national legislation.

Examples include:

  • Unacceptable activities in parks
  • Controlling dogs in parks and open spaces
  • Cycling in Farnborough town centre
  • Skateboarding
  • Regulating hairdressing, tattooing, electrolysis and acupuncture

The Secretary of State must approve all byelaws.

Enforcing

If you break a byelaw, you are committing a criminal offence. We may prosecute you in the magistrates' court and, if convicted, you may be fined.
