Air quality

Information about air quality in Farnborough and Aldershot and links to annual reports.

We have to review and assess air quality regularly in Aldershot and Farnborough and decide if national air quality objectives are likely to be met.

There are health-based air quality objectives set for seven key pollutants: benzene, 1,3-butadiene, carbon monoxide, lead, sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate matter (PM10).

The main pollutant of concern in Rushmoor is nitrogen dioxide (NO2). Road traffic emissions are the main source of this.

We monitor nitrogen dioxide at a number of locations across the borough and carry out regular reviews of local air quality to identify any areas where the air quality objectives may be exceeded.

A series of air quality reports are available. These demonstrate that there are currently no areas where the air quality objectives are being exceeded.
