The cost of living is affecting everyone at the moment, including the council, and we must make sure we spend council tax payers' money responsibly.

We last held the Rushmoor Fireworks Spectacular four years ago, having stopped it because of the pandemic, and this has given us the opportunity to think about how we use our limited resources best.

During that time, we have refocused our events programme on our town centres, organising events and activities that will help boost the towns' footfall and trade to our shops and businesses throughout the year, and that celebrate Rushmoor's diverse communities.

Our busy events programme includes Victoria Day, Armed Forces Day, Playfest!, the Aldershot Christmas Cracker,  the Farnborough Frost Fair, events at Halloween, and our increasingly popular town centre craft fayres, markets and car boot sales.

There are now a number of organised fireworks displays locally, including the Cambridge Primary School's Fireworks Extravaganza in Aldershot and the Farnborough Football Club Fireworks and Fun Fair. There are also displays in the wider area, including at Farnham Rugby Club in Weybourne, Farnham and Guildford.

We would be happy to work with a third party to run an event in the future, but in the current financial climate, we are not able to support a fireworks event directly.
