Information for town centre businesses

Information and advice for businesses and shops on the re-opening of our town centres.

Town centre business recovery survey

As part of  the safe re-opening of our town centres and local shopping centres , we have been looking at how we can best support our public-facing businesses.

To help us understand what would help you to re-open or carry on trading safely and successfully as the lockdown eases, we put together a survey. The deadline for filling in the survey has now passed. Thanks to everyone who gave us their feedback.

We will use what you told us to help develop a package of business support going forward.

Re-opening safely online sessions and presentation

We held an online meeting on Tuesday 9 June to share our plans with town centre shops and businesses and to give advice on re-opening premises safely.

The session covered the following topics:

  • Government guidelines for re-opening safely
  • Keeping staff and customers safe in-store
  • Safe exterior spaces and visitor movement in public areas
  • Temporary highways changes in Aldershot, Farnborough and North Camp (including maps)
  • Making visitors feel safe and welcome during their visit
  • Shaping a business support package for recovery
  • Key resources and contacts for further information

Guidance on being COVID-19 secure

All shops selling non-essential goods are able to re-open from Monday 15 June as long as they follow the COVID-19 secure guidelines set out by the government in May.

To show that you have followed this guidance, you should display a notice visible in your shop windows or outside your store. You can download a copy of the sign  from the government's website.

For more information on workplace guidance, please see the government's information on working safely during coronavirus.
