Ribbon of Poppies
Ribbon of Poppies is an initiative launched to mark the centenary of Armistice. Find out how you can join in.
About Ribbon of Poppies
The Ribbon of Poppies project was originally launched by The Memorial Mob with the aim of covering the UK in a 'carpet of crimson' in 2018 to mark the centenary of Armistice. As a lasting reminder to this poignant anniversary, we will continue the ribbon to remember all those who served in the First World War.
Where you will see poppies
Our gardening teams will continue to sow a wildflower and poppy mix in our green spaces, parks, verges and roundabouts as part of our annual planting
Aldershot
- Princes Hall
- Morrison's central reservation wildflower bed
- Wellington roundabout
- Willems roundabout
- Heroes' Shrine, Manor Park
- Community beds - Municipal Gardens
Farnborough
- A325 wildflower beds
- Council offices
How you can support the ribbon
We would like to encourage you to keep the ribbon going and plant poppies in your front gardens, window boxes and pots to help create a continuous display as you travel through our towns.
We worked with the Ribbon of Poppies Aldershot Garrison to create some special poppy beds in Municipal Gardens where members of the public and community groups can sow their seeds, and we invite you to continue this year on year.
We would recommend that you sow your seeds directly into the soil during early spring - March to May (and after the last frost). You can then expect to see them start to bloom in late June and throughout the summer.
