Ribbon of Poppies

Ribbon of Poppies is an initiative launched to mark the Centenary of Armistice. Find out how you can join in.

About Ribbon of Poppies

The Ribbon of Poppies  project was originally launched by The Memorial Mob with the aim of covering the UK in a 'carpet of crimson' in 2018 to remember all those who served in the First World War.

Where you will see poppies

Our gardening teams have identified a number of locations across Aldershot and Farnborough, where will be planting a remembrance wildflower and poppy mix as part of our annual planting, so that we will have a good showing of poppies to mark the Centenary of Armistice in our green spaces, parks, verges and roundabouts.

Aldershot

  • Princes Hall
  • Morrison's central reservation wildflower bed
  • Wellington Roundabout
  • High Street
  • Willems Roundabout
  • Community beds - Municipal Gardens and Manor Park

Farnborough

  • A325 wildflower beds
  • Queens Roundabout
  • Bradfords Roundabout
  • Council Offices

How you can join the Ribbon

We would like to encourage you to join the ribbon and plant poppies in your front gardens, window boxes and pots to help create a continuous display as you travel through our towns.

We have been working with the  Ribbon of Poppies Aldershot Garrison to create some special poppy beds in Municipal Gardens and Manor Park where we are inviting members of the public and community groups to take part and sow their seeds (just look out for one of our signs).

We would recommend that your seeds are sown during early Spring and expect to see them start to bloom in late June and throughout the Summer . Please do get involved and help us mark this poignant anniversary. We would love to see your planting photographs and these can be shared to our Facebook page.
