The Rushmoor Business Conference 2020 is a day of free online events offering you valuable information and support to help your business develop and grow.

You can book as many - or as few - sessions as you like.

Programme of sessions

Session 1 - Rushmoor's economic recovery plan

Time: 9.30am to 10am

Speakers: Councillor Marina Munro, Cabinet Member for Planning and Economy and Tim Mills Head of Economy, Planning and Strategic Housing

Find out about the impact of COVID-19 on the borough and how we are supporting the local economy.  Learn about the local partnerships that are helping us respond to the immediate challenges businesses are facing.

Looking to the future, we hope, with the development of an aerospace and a digital hub, together with the regeneration plans for Aldershot and Farnborough, we can secure success for Rushmoor businesses. This session will give you an insight into our vision for the future and the opportunity to ask questions.

Session 2 - How to adapt your business to maximise sales post COVID-19

Time: 10.15am to 11am

Speaker: Paul Scott, Enterprise M3 Growth Hub

Learn how to maximise sales post COVID-19.  This session will provide advice on the importance of a good sales engine and structure and functionality of the sales funnel. It will cover analysing what has changed in your business and look at the tools available to help you identify and decide the best route of diversification. This session will also look at the importance of your team and sharing your vision for the future.

Session 3 - Ask the experts

Time: 11.15am to midday

Speakers: Representatives from Rushmoor Borough Council's Economic team, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Hampshire County Council, EM3 Growth Hub, Menzies Plc, Enterprise South, Inspiring Enterprise and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce

Do you have a question you can't find the answer to? We have put together a panel of experts from different sectors to help provide the answers and give you the support you need. Once registered, you will be asked to submit your question before the session.  If you don't have a question, you are, of course, still welcome to attend to listen to other people's questions and answers.

Session 4 - Thinking about starting a business in Rushmoor?

Time: 12:15pm to 1pm

Speakers: Andy Pringle, Enterprise South and Henriette Reinders, Inspiring Enterprise

If you have ever thought about starting your own business, then this session will help you kick-start your idea. It will outline some of the key factors that influence business success and the most common pitfalls to avoid.

Presented by established local not-for-profit support organisations, Enterprise South and Inspiring Enterprise, you will find out what free support and funding options are available to you locally.

Session 5 - Understanding the Kickstart Scheme and how to apply

Time: 1.15pm to 2pm

Speaker: Ross McNally Chamber of Commerce

The government has introduced the Kickstart Scheme to provide funding to employers to create new six-month job placements for young people who are on Universal Credit and at risk of long -term unemployment. The British Chamber of Commerce is approved as an authorised gateway for the scheme and can help you apply for the grant. This session will outline what is involved and guide you through the application process and support available.

Session 6 - Forecasting your way to a brighter future

Time: 2.15pm to 3pm

Speaker: Sadie Channing, Menzies Plc

Understand the importance of long-term forecasting using our best practice planning approach, particularly in the current climate. What should you and your business be thinking about now, to enable your business to thrive in the future?

Session 7 - Find out about the government's new Job Support Scheme

Time: 3.15pm to 4pm

Speaker: Tim Colman, FSB English Policy Unit

This session will help you understand the impact of the end of the furlough scheme and how the new Job Support Scheme can support you and your employees. It will also cover extending the Self Employment Income Support Scheme grant (SEISS) and look at the tax cuts, deferrals, and the flexibility to pay back loans that may help your business in the coming months.
