Christmas is coming to Aldershot and Farnborough

The countdown to Christmas is on and a number of special events will be sprinkling Christmas magic over Aldershot and Farnborough town centre throughout November and December.

Christmas starts in Aldershot town centre on Saturday 20 November, with the Aldershot Christmas Cracker.

The fun starts at midday with craft, food, community stalls and fun fair rides all around the town and brass bands playing festive music. There will be fun, free activities for families to try including crafts, circus skills and face painting. Children can also meet Father Christmas in his grotto and visit the nativity farm.

Over 100 performers from local bands, choirs and dance schools will take to the main stage to perform.

The highlight of this brand-new event will be the Christmas lights switch-on which will take place in Princes Gardens at 5.15pm, including a short firework display and a giant snow machine.

The town centre has new Christmas lights this year on lampposts in Union Street and Wellington Street.

The event has been organised by Rushmoor Borough Council, with the help of Aldershot Community Together, a group of residents and volunteers who work with the council on projects for the town.

As well as lots more free family activities, there will be stage with a programme packed full of festive performances. There will also be fun fair rides and a chance to meet some beautiful birds of prey. The event also coincides with the switching on of the Christmas lights at the Princes Mead shopping centre with balloon artists, magical science, Father Christmas and more.
