MyTown Shops - a better way to shop

MyTown Shops, the e-commerce and eco-friendly home delivery service is bringing their unique online local shopping experience to Aldershot and Farnborough.

It has never been so important to shop local and support independent retailers. MyTown Shops has joined forces with Rushmoor Borough Council to offer a one-stop, multi-retailer online platform for the borough's local shops and independent retailers.

Councillor Marina Munro, Cabinet Member for Planning and Economy at Rushmoor Borough Council, said: "We're very excited about this new eco-friendly venture which will make it even easier for our residents to shop locally and support our many independent businesses. Please take a look at their website, Mytown Shops, and try it out."

Councillor David Clifford, Leader of Rushmoor Borough Council added: "The website will help our businesses to reach more customers and give shoppers even more choice. You will be able to choose to have your items brought to your doorstep in one simple electric bike delivery or use the click and collect service. Shopping local has never been easier!"

The new Mytown Shops platform has just launched in Aldershot and Farnborough and it will be free to use for all local retailers for the first year.

MyTown Shops' ambition is to emulate the speed, ease and convenience of larger online retailers while operating ethically and fairly to local businesses and the wider community.

MyTown Shops is a successful south west London based online shopping platform offering a same day home delivery service, while their click and collect option helps to drive footfall to independent retailers on the high street. Two important and easy ways in which to celebrate, support and shop local.

This ethical and collaborative project will employ local people, and through the government KickStart Scheme, will initially give three young people aged between 16-24 the opportunity to work in their local community. These six-month fully paid placements will give the successful candidates valuable work experience, while bringing this multi-retailer shopping experience to the borough.

Dominic Brookman, CEO of MyTown Shops says: "We believe that there is a better way to keep it local and online. We are extremely pleased in helping to support local employment in Rushmoor particularly through the Kickstart Scheme, this will give local young adults the opportunity to learn new skills while gaining valuable work experience."

MyTown Shops' fleet of e-cargo bikes and riders will undertake all of the local deliveries. The new MyTown Shops e-cargo bikes include chilled and ambient storage, allowing orders to be delivered fresh to the door, with zero carbon emissions.
