Aldershot Lido is back for a summer of fun

Aldershot Lido is back and preparing to open its doors for the summer season on 1 July.

Aldershot's huge outdoor pool will be open every day until 5 September and with the warmer weather due to return this week, the timing could not be better.

The pool will be open daily from 10am to 6pm and this year for the first time, visitors can book their tickets in advance for fast-track entry.

Safety and social distancing measures will be in place, including reduced capacity while covid restrictions remain.

Tickets can be purchased in advance (before 9am on the day of your visit) by going to the Aldershot lido website and pool goers are being advised to book online for reduced price tickets, to beat the queues and avoid disappointment. Tickets will still be available on the gate, but visitors may need to queue on the busiest days.

There are several special offers available this season including half price entry every day after 3pm, as well as season tickets, and discounts for military personnel.

Online tickets to the lido are just £7 for adults and £4 for juniors and senior citizens, with family tickets - which are only available online in advance - starting from £13.

Councillor Maurice Sheehan, Cabinet Member for Operational Services at Rushmoor Borough Council, said: "It's been a long wait for everyone, as it wasn't possible for us to open the lido last year, but we can't wait to welcome visitors back and see the pool busy with families and friends enjoying the summer sun."

Councillor Sheehan added: "With holidays abroad unlikely for many of us this year, Aldershot Lido is the perfect place to soak up the sun and enjoy a summer staycation at home."

Visitors to the lido this Saturday (3 July) will also be treated to an afternoon of live music and activities organised by the Friends of Aldershot Lido.

There will be live music by the pool, plus an arts and crafts stall for families and a display of colourful Aldershot Lido poster designs created by local schoolchildren.

The Blackwater Valley Canoe Club will also be running taster kayaking and canoeing sessions.

Owned by Rushmoor Borough Council and operated on their behalf by Places Leisure, the large open-air pool in Guildford Road offers three colourful water slides, a toddlers' paddling pool and large sandpit plus a picnic area, swim shop and basketball area. Aldershot's number 15 bus route from Aldershot bus station (run by Stagecoach) also stops just along from the pool.

Early morning lane swimming will also be back on Wednesdays and Fridays from 7am to 8am and Sundays from 8.30am to 9.30am.

Further information about the Aldershot Lido is available on our Aldershot Lido page.
