Weekly rubbish collections to return from Monday 7 September

We will be returning to weekly rubbish bin collections from Monday 7 September, our Cabinet members agreed last night (Wednesday 12 August).

This means that from Monday 7 September, you will return to your normal collection schedule.

We'll publish the bin collection schedules on our bin collections  page nearer the time and let you know when they are live.

Councillor Maurice Sheehan, our Cabinet member for Operational Services, said: "We'd really like thank everyone for your patience during this time and for those of you that have taken part in our survey to tell us about your experiences and your views on the introduction of a weekly food waste collection service.

"Our Cabinet has listened to your views and because the risk of further local outbreaks is currently fairly low, we are now happy to move back to weekly collections earlier than planned."

Our Cabinet is due to consider the survey results in late September as we look at how we can increase household recycling in the borough and reduce waste. By 2023, all councils must have a separate food waste collection service, so the Cabinet will be considering when and how it is best to introduce this.

If there is a further spike in coronavirus or a local outbreak, which means we need to change our service again, we will let you know as soon as possible through social media and our website.
