View the submitted plans to bring new life to Aldershot town centre

The Rushmoor Development Partnership's plans to regenerate Aldershot town centre are now being considered by Rushmoor Borough Council.

The exciting proposals will help to create a reimagined town centre with new homes, student accommodation and flexible retail and commercial space, centred around an attractive public square and 'Union Yard', a creative space for local artisans and independent businesses to thrive in the heart of Aldershot

The application seeks to respect Aldershot's rich culture and heritage and includes:

  • 100 new one and two bedroom homes
  • 128 student accommodation units
  • 100 car parking spaces
  • Communal spaces for residents to use
  • 'Union Yard' - a creative space including studio/flexible lease space

You can view and comment on the final plans by going to the Union Street, Aldershot - planning application page. The reference number is 20/00171/FULPP.

Councillor Martin Tennant, Chair of the RDP, said: "I'm delighted that the first of the Rushmoor Development Partnership's schemes has now reached the formal planning stage. This represents a really important step forward for Aldershot Town Centre. We would encourage people to look at the submitted plans and share their views through the Council website."

Councillor David Clifford, Leader of Rushmoor Borough Council, said: "The regeneration of Aldershot town centre is the Council's top priority. This scheme represents a significant investment by the Council that will attract a widening audience and contribute to the local area, making it an even better place to work and live. We are confident that these plans will deliver positive change and help create a town that everyone in Aldershot can be proud of".

Greg Hill, Deputy Chief Executive of Hill Group, said: "We have worked hard to engage with local people on the plans throughout the application process. We were pleased with the positive response from the community on the initial plans and have sought to incorporate as many of these comments into the final submitted designs which we know will deliver an outstanding place for residents to call home".

Plans were submitted following significant consultation with the local community. 98% of those who gave their feedback said they wanted to see Aldershot redeveloped. Feedback from the consultation and further information is available on the Rushmoor Development Partnership website.

The Rushmoor Development Partnership (RDP) is a joint venture between the Council and development partner Hill Investment Partnerships.
