Thousands attend Rushmoor Fireworks Spectacular

The Rushmoor Fireworks Spectacular lit up the skies over Aldershot on Saturday evening.

Around 10,000 people filled Manor Park to enjoy the explosive display that was set to music.

The event organised by Rushmoor Borough Council was free again this year, thanks to the generous support of new event partners Enterprise Rent-a-car.

Eagle Radio DJ, Kim Robson entertained the crowd and started the big countdown at 7.30pm.  The stunning display lasted for 20 minutes with a barrage of colourful fireworks performed to music including chart hits by Taylor Swift, Lewis Capaldi, and a staggering finale to 'Thunder' by Imagine Dragons.

Visitors were able to enjoy all the thrills and spills of the funfair including spectacular rides, a ghost train, trampolines, side stalls and food vendors.

Volunteers from the Rotary Club of Rushmoor sold glow sticks and light up wands to raise money for local charities. Volunteers from several Aldershot community groups helped with the safe flow of people into the park for the evening.

Councillor Marina Munro, Rushmoor Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Planning and Economy, said: "We'd like to thank the community for making the event a huge success.  As always, the display went off with a bang! and I'm very proud of the exceptional way that everything was organised by the council's team and all the wonderful volunteers."

Marina added: "It was wonderful to see families and friends of all ages coming out to enjoy this annual event.  We would particularly like to thank our event partners, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, whose fantastic generosity enabled us to make it a free event again this year."

David Phillips, Town Centre and Cultural Manager at Rushmoor Borough Council said: "The Rushmoor Fireworks Spectacular is a flagship event for the borough, and the turnout was fantastic given the poor weather during the day. We are always proud and grateful to have so many members of the community contribute to the safe running of the event. It was clear that everyone had an enjoyable evening."
