Find out how you can keep up-to-date and get involved in the development of our planning policies.

Get Involved in planning our borough

We want to hear the views of as many people as possible when preparing planning policy documents, including the future iterations of the Rushmoor Local Plan and supplementary planning documents. To be kept updated about planning policies in Aldershot and Farnborough please complete our Keep up-to-date with planning policies form.

Statement of Community of Involvement

Our Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how we will involve people in preparing planning policies and in deciding on planning applications. The Rushmoor Local Plan was prepared in accordance with the current pdf icon Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) [1Mb] that we adopted in October 2013.

We recently consulted on a draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). We are currently considering the comments we received during the consultation period and anticipate adopting a final SCI by the end of 2019.

Timetable for preparing the Rushmoor Local Plan

We have to publish a timetable for the preparation of our local plan. This is known as the Local Development Scheme (LDS).

We prepared the Rushmoor Local Plan, which we adopted in February 2019, in line with the current pdf icon Local Development Scheme (2016) [1Mb], as amended by a Cabinet decision in October 2017.

As we have only recently adopted the local plan, we do not intend to review our Local Development Scheme. Legislation states that councils should review their local plans every five years. We will therefore publish an updated Local Development Scheme, setting out the process for reviewing the local plan before February 2024.

Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs)

We recently consulted on a Draft Affordable Housing SPD. We are now considering the comments we received in the six-week consultation period are currently being considered and we anticipate adopting a final version by the end of 2019.
