Rushmoor Community Lottery launches a new grants scheme

Community groups, organisations and charities will soon be able to apply to a new grants pot available through the Rushmoor Community Lottery.

Around 900 tickets are sold for Rushmoor Borough Council's online lottery every week, helping to raise over £25,000 a year for good causes across Aldershot and Farnborough.

For every ticket sold since the lottery launched, 10p has been going into the Rushmoor Community Fund, which will be a brand new source of funding and the council hopes it will help good causes to get their projects and initiatives off the ground.

Councillor Gareth Lyon, Cabinet Member for Corporate and Democratic Services at Rushmoor Borough Council said: "We are so grateful to everyone who has been supporting the Rushmoor Community Lottery so far by buying weekly tickets, the lottery has gone from strength-to-strength and we've even been lucky enough to have our first big £2,000 winner!"

Councillor Lyon added: "We're delighted that the lottery money will now be going even further and we can't wait to start awarding the first grants and seeing the money making a real difference in the community."

Grants of up to £1,000 will be available and the application window will open on Tuesday 7 May and close at midday on Friday 7 June.

A forum made up of representatives from local community organisations and the council will decide how the money is awarded. Applicants will find out if they have been successful in August.

To be considered for a grant, good causes will need to be part of the Rushmoor Community Lottery and have sold tickets. They will need to complete a short application form to show how they plan to make use of the money and what it will help them to achieve for their group or organisation.

Further information for good causes wishing to sign-up to the lottery is available at on our Rushmoor Community Lottery pages or look for the Rushmoor Community Lottery on Facebook and Twitter.
