New defibrillator unveiled at Blunden Hall, West Heath

The Cove Brook Greenway group and ward councillors in West Heath have succeeded in getting a new defibrillator installed at Blunden Hall in Farnborough.

The installation comes as the result of an initiative taken by the group and has been made possible by a ward grant from West Heath councillors and a Hampshire county councillor grant, both organised by Councillor Rod Cooper.

The Cove Brook Greenway Group is a regular user of Blunden Hall and foresaw that not only would users of the hall benefit from this potentially life-saving piece of kit being accessible in case of emergency 24/7, but also the area's residents many of whom are elderly. It is located on the left by the front door.

The defibrillator was officially unveiled on Wednesday by the Mayor of Rushmoor, Councillor Steve Masterson, in a ceremony including representatives of Rushmoor Borough Council and the Cove Brook Greenway Group.

This brings the total number of defibrillators in Rushmoor to 27.

Councillor Gareth Lyon, Rushmoor Borough Council's Cabinet member for Corporate and Democratic Services, said: "Congratulations to Cove Brook Greenway and the local councillors on getting the new defibrillator installed. Lots of people enjoy walking by the brook and field and using the hall.

"This is exactly the kind of initiative we want to see councillors using their ward grants for - supporting local good causes which benefit the whole community!"
