Park for free in Aldershot, Farnborough and North Camp this Christmas

Festive shoppers in Aldershot and Farnborough can enjoy free parking in council car parks on Saturday 15 December and on three Sundays in the build-up to Christmas.

Most Rushmoor Borough Council-owned car parks in Rushmoor (a couple of exclusions apply) will be free all day for shoppers on Saturday 15 December, plus the three Sundays before Christmas (9, 16 and 23 December).

The council has chosen Saturday 15 December to offer free parking, when there are festive events planned in both towns.

Aldershot will be hosting the town centre's first live nativity organised by the residents of the Aldershot Community Together group. Performances will take place at 11am and 1pm, starting from the top of Union Street and will feature real donkeys and festive music.

Farnborough town centre will also be hosting the council's final Christmas craft fayre of the year with more than 20 stallholders setting up in the town centre offering all sorts of handmade gift ideas, crafts and jewellery.  Cactus Brass will be playing festive music and the friendly Little Dallas Donkeys will also be in town.

Councillor Maurice Sheehan, Cabinet Member for Operational Services at Rushmoor Borough Council, said: "Christmas is a hugely important time for all our traders in Aldershot and Farnborough, so we are happy to provide an extra incentive for people, so that they can support both our towns and enjoy our free festive events.  Every penny that is spent helps to support local businesses".

The offer is also available in North Camp, which is home to many small businesses and independent traders.

All the car parks included in the scheme will have posters on display at the pay and display machines.

The offer covers all council-owned car parks, except for Co-op and East Station Road car parks in Aldershot and Union Street West, Union Street East and the Salisbury Road parking area in Farnborough. The concession will not apply to on-street parking.
