Vintage car show thrills visitors in Aldershot

Almost one hundred vintage cars and bikes were on show in Aldershot town centre on Saturday, thrilling visitors to the town during the day.

The free vintage car show was organised by Rushmoor Borough Council along with Angela and Andy House from the Classic & Vintage Car Company.  The cars took over Union Street, Wellington Street and Princes Gardens.

The show featured a mix of pre and post-war cars from all around the world, with British and 1950s American classics among the favourites. An authentic 'Noddy' car from the 1960s had lots of attention from children young and old!

Proud owners of all the vehicles were on hand all day to talk to visitors about their cars. Best in Show awards went to a Hillman Imp, a Wolseley 1560 and a Ford Galaxy.

In addition to the cars, a stage was set up Union Street with a full programme of performances by The Jim Hammond Duo, Stomping Nomads, King's Pond Shanty Men, The Dolomites, Ceroc Plus and Electric Milk. There were beer and food stalls, and activities for children including free face painting and arts and crafts.

The car show was free to enter for owners, with charity donations taken for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.

Councillor Liz Corps, Events and Civic Pride Cabinet Champion at Rushmoor Borough Council, said: "What a fantastic day! As a car enthusiast myself, it was wonderful to see such a vibrant atmosphere in the town created by the colourful vehicles and entertainment, there will lots of demand for a repeat show next year."

The event was sponsored by Arena Cars and Car Cosmetics.
