Councils seek feedback on CCTV in Rushmoor and Hart

Rushmoor Borough Council and Hart District Council are seeking views from residents and businesses about the CCTV service across both areas.

Both councils have a number of CCTV cameras, which are monitored and recorded at a control centre managed by Rushmoor Borough Council, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

A joint review into CCTV across Rushmoor and Hart is being conducted which aims to evaluate both technical aspects and public attitudes of the current system. The outcome of this review will inform the councils of any current requirements and future need.

Councillor Ken Muschamp, Rushmoor Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Business, Safety and Regulation, said: "We are carrying out this survey so we can improve our CCTV service. We are asking residents for their thoughts, views and opinions of CCTV across both areas and have created a joint survey to capture these."

The survey is available online until Thursday 29 March on the CCTV service survey website, or printed copies are available from both Rushmoor Borough Council and Hart District Council offices.

Councillor Adrian Collett, Cabinet Member for Regulatory Services and Community Safety at Hart District Council, said: "It's important for us to review our partnerships and we thank Rushmoor for their continued high level of service delivery. This review is important to capture residents' views on the service. We will continue to work with our partners to ensure effective use of the system, as set out in our Corporate Plan."

CCTV is not a statutory requirement, however Rushmoor Borough Council and Hart District Council continue to provide this service to prevent and detect crime and disorder within each area.
