Rushmoor Youth Forum

The forum is open to anyone working with young people in Aldershot and Farnborough and young people who want to make a difference.

What the Rushmoor Youth Forum does

The Rushmoor Youth Forum (RYF) has three main purposes:

  • To support the development of young people aged five to 25 in Rushmoor
  • To enable volunteer and professional youth leaders to share information and resources
  • To distribute small grants to organisations, and occasionally individuals, on behalf of Rushmoor Borough Council

Rushmoor Youth Forum is an independent body, with a constitution approved by the membership. Its main meetings aim to promote opportunities for young people, learn about innovative projects and strengthen links across the local youth provision. Where possible, it will also signpost to suitable, or additional, resources or funding.

The forum is open to anyone working with young people in Rushmoor and you'll be given a warm welcome.

Three elected members from Rushmoor Borough Council's Community Panel support the work of the forum and update its members on council projects. These members also support the forum's work by providing feedback to their colleagues on the Youth and Community Panel, and sharing the thoughts and feelings of the membership.

The forum represents youth in Rushmoor and is consulted when major projects are planned which affect young people. The council's community development team also supports the work of the forum.

The meetings of the forum

The next meetings of the forum for 2016:

  • 7 June (AGM)
  • 18 October

All meetings are held at Rushmoor Borough Council Offices, Farnborough and start at 7pm. For future dates, please contact the Chairman using the contact details on this page.

The forum is always happy to hear about any work going on in Aldershot or Farnborough and  from anyone willing to give a short presentation on their work.

Rushmoor Youth Forum grants

The forum's finance committee meets between full meetings to consider grant applications. The next deadlines for grant applications are 13 January, 21 April and 6 October.

The finance committee makes recommendations for approval to the next full meeting so that all members can decide how best to distribute its limited resources.

Rushmoor Youth Forum manages the Hampshire Youth Bureau Legacy Fund. This is a restricted fund that makes small grants to young people, generally on benefits, who would not otherwise be able to access services/facilities that are not available in Rushmoor. These grants are made for public transport to places within a 15 mile radius of the Holiday Inn, Farnborough.
