Reptile and Amphibian Survey

By completing our online survey you can help us get a greater understanding of the reptiles and amphibians found here in Rushmoor.

Frog : Photo by Natalie RogersHerptiles (collective name for reptiles and amphibians) start to come out of hibernation at the end of February and are active on warm days throughout the year until the end of September. They often like to bask in the morning sun to warm up, so look out for them on rocks and bare patches of ground.

The reptile and amphibian survey will be running until the end of October when herptiles will hide away and hibernate for the winter. You can complete the survey as many times as you like for different sightings throughout the year.

The location of the sighting is important.  This is so that we can use the information in the future to identify areas where we can make improvements for reptiles and amphibians in Rushmoor.

If you have any questions about reptiles and amphibians, or want help identifying a photo, you can call the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust's free wildlife advice service, WildLine, on 01489 774 446 or visit their website.

By completing the form you agree to your records being used by Rushmoor Borough Council and the Hampshire Wildlife Trust. The species information collected will be entered onto the Wildlife Trust database. This will help them to build a clear picture of the status of herptile species in Hampshire. Your contact details will be kept confidentially and will not be shared with any third party.
